Honda Vision or Air Blade? Seat Height, Weight and Storage

About 7 minutes to read

Vision and Air Blade are the two Honda automatics most renters in Hanoi end up choosing between. They look similar from a distance, but Honda Vietnam’s own pages show real differences in seat height, weight, engine size and storage, and those differences matter more on a narrow alley or a full day of riding than on a spec sheet. This guide sets out what Honda’s pages say, what each difference means in practice, and what to confirm with the shop before you pick one.

Short answer: the Vision is lighter (93–97 kg across versions) and has a 110 cc engine; the Air Blade is heavier (110–113 kg), comes in 125 cc and 160 cc versions, and Honda lists a 23.2-litre under-seat compartment for it. At Nguyễn Hà both are listed at the same reference daily price, so the choice usually comes down to handling, storage and, for the 160 cc version, your licence class.

The figures from Honda Vietnam’s pages

The table combines Honda Vietnam’s comparison pages for both models, as read on 26 October 2026. Honda calls the weight column “total weight”.

Model and versionSeat heightWeightEngine
Vision Sport785 mm97 kg109.5 cc
Vision Special and Premium761 mm94 kg109.5 cc
Vision Standard761 mm93 kg109.5 cc
Air Blade 160 (three versions)775 mm113 kg156.9 cc
Air Blade 125 Sport775 mm111 kg124.8 cc
Air Blade 125 Special, Standard and Marvel editions775 mm110 kg124.8 cc

Two points stand out. First, “Vision” is not one set of numbers: the Sport version sits 24 mm higher than the other three. Second, the weight gap is real but not huge: from 13 kg (Air Blade 110 kg against Vision 97 kg) to 20 kg (113 kg against 93 kg).

Seat height: test it, do not assume it

On paper, the standard Vision seat at 761 mm is 14 mm lower than the Air Blade at 775 mm, while the Vision Sport at 785 mm is 10 mm higher. Those gaps are small enough that the shape of the seat and floorboard can matter as much as the number. Honda’s pages do not say how seat height is measured or which rider heights suit each model.

The practical test takes a minute: sit on the bike with both feet down at a standstill, then lift it off the stand and walk it a metre. If you can plant both feet comfortably and steady the bike without leaning, the height works for you.

Weight: where 13–20 kg shows up

You rarely notice the extra weight while riding in a straight line. You notice it when you push the bike backwards out of a tight parking row, turn it around in a narrow alley, or rock it onto its centre stand. Hanoi involves a lot of all three. If you are a lighter rider, new to scooters, or staying somewhere with a steep or cramped parking entrance, try those three moves on flat ground before you decide.

Storage: the Air Blade has a number, the Vision does not

Honda’s Air Blade page gives a 23.2-litre under-seat compartment, described as holding two half-face helmets plus personal items, with a light and a divider. The Vision page only describes its under-seat storage as “large capacity”, room for a helmet and personal items, without a litre figure, and adds a covered front pocket with a USB Type-C port.

Because the Vision has no published litre figure, do not assume it holds more or less than the Air Blade. If storage matters, for example a laptop bag or two helmets, put your actual items in the compartment at pickup. Charging ports also changed between model years: Honda’s current Air Blade page says the port was upgraded from USB Type-A to Type-C, while a 2022 Honda news release lists Type-A, so check the port on the bike you receive.

Engine size and your licence

This is the difference that can decide the question for visitors. The Vision (109.5 cc) and the Air Blade 125 (124.8 cc) are both within the 125 cc threshold, while the Air Blade 160 (156.9 cc) is above it. Under Vietnam’s current licence classes, the A1 class covers two-wheel motorcycles up to 125 cc, and bikes above 125 cc need class A. If you ride on an International Driving Permit or a foreign licence, check which category it shows; our guides to the 1968 Convention IDP and motorcycle categories and to licence class thresholds explain what to look for.

If your licence only covers smaller bikes, ask specifically for a Vision or an Air Blade 125, and confirm the version in writing before pickup.

Confirm the exact version before pickup

  • Numbers change by version. The Vision has two seat heights and three weights; the Air Blade has two engine sizes and three weights.
  • Unlocking can differ. Honda’s Vision comparison lists Smart Key on three of four versions, not on the Standard; all eight Air Blade columns list Smart Key.
  • Model years differ. Storage volume and USB port type have changed across Air Blade generations.
  • Maker pages are not the shop’s fleet. They say nothing about which bikes a shop has on a given day.

Ask the shop by message which model, version, engine size and year you will receive, and keep the reply. If the bike at pickup differs, photograph it, the dashboard and the key before riding, and ask for the details in writing.

FAQ

Is the Honda Vision or Air Blade better for a Hanoi rental?

Neither is better for everyone. The Vision is lighter and simpler to handle in tight spaces; the Air Blade is heavier, has a published 23.2-litre storage compartment and a 160 cc option. Choose by handling, storage needs and your licence class.

How much heavier is the Air Blade than the Vision?

According to Honda Vietnam’s comparison pages, between 13 kg and 20 kg depending on the versions compared (Vision 93–97 kg, Air Blade 110–113 kg).

Can I ride an Air Blade 160 on an A1 licence?

The Air Blade 160 has a 156.9 cc engine, above the 125 cc limit of class A1, so it needs class A. Check the category on your licence or permit before choosing it.

Do the Vision and Air Blade cost the same to rent?

At Nguyễn Hà both are listed at 200,000 VND a day and 1,000,000 VND a week as reference prices. Monthly prices and deposits differ; see the table above and confirm when booking.

Which has more under-seat storage?

Honda publishes 23.2 litres for the Air Blade but no litre figure for the Vision, so a direct comparison is not possible from Honda’s pages. Test your own items at pickup.
