Yamaha Janus vs Honda Vision: Seat Height, Storage and Fuel Figures From Maker Pages

About 6 minutes to read

Yamaha Janus vs Honda Vision comes down to a short list of printed figures, and this article keeps each one with the page that prints it. It reads Yamaha Vietnam’s page for the limited edition of the Janus 125, Honda Vietnam’s Vision page, part of the Vision manual, a Honda press release for the Vision 2026 version, a Yamaha news article comparing two Janus generations and two items from the Vietnam Register, the vehicle-inspection authority’s portal. None of these sources covers renting either scooter, and the Yamaha figures for fuel use do not agree with each other.

Janus and Vision figures side by side

Source key: YJ is Yamaha’s Janus limited-edition page, YN is Yamaha’s news article comparing two Janus generations and HV is Honda’s Vision product page. “No litre figure” means the text read for that page gives none. The last column compares only the printed numbers; no page ranks the two scooters.

Seat height and weight

Yamaha’s page lists a seat height of 770 mm and a weight of 99 kg for the Janus. Honda’s page lists 785 mm and a kerb mass of 97 kg for the Vision, using the label “khối lượng bản thân”. A simple subtraction of the printed numbers, which is not a figure from either page, gives a 15 mm seat-height gap and a 2 kg mass gap. The two weights may not be measured alike: Yamaha’s label is a plain “weight” and neither text says whether fuel or other fluids are counted. Yamaha’s news article lists the earlier Janus at 769 mm and the all-new one at 770 mm. None of the sources says how seat height was measured or which rider heights either seat suits.

Storage: one litre figure and one description

Yamaha’s page prints 15.3 L for the Janus compartment and says it is 1.1 L more than on the previous version, and the Yamaha news article repeats the 1.1 L increase. Honda’s Vision page calls the under-seat box large, big enough for a helmet and personal items, and adds a covered front compartment with a USB type-C port. Honda’s press release for the Vision 2026 version also says “large capacity” without litres. In the three Honda sources read, none gives a litre figure for the Vision’s under-seat box, so a litre-based comparison is not possible. The Vision manual text read lists a luggage limit of 10 kg for the storage box and 1.5 kg for the hook and front compartment, while the Janus page text gives no load limit for its compartment. For the order of opening the fuel cap and the seat at handover, the site has an article titled Scooter Fuel Cap and Seat Release: Learn the Correct Sequence at Handover.

Fuel use: 1.98 against 1.82 l/100 km

Yamaha’s page puts the Janus at 1.98 l/100 km in its lead line and its specification row. Honda’s page puts the Vision at 1.82 l/100 km in its specification row. Neither text prints a test speed, load or cycle beside the figure. The Vietnam Register’s news article of 3 February 2020 says makers test and declare consumption themselves and the quality authority only checks afterwards, so the numbers are the makers’ own declarations. The gap between the two figures is 0.16 l/100 km by subtraction, a number neither page states. Honda’s page also describes an idling-stop feature that stops the engine when the scooter is stopped for more than 3 seconds and restarts it when the throttle is twisted; Honda says this cuts noise and saves fuel but gives no figure for the saving. For tracking real fuel use, the site has an article titled How to Track Fuel Use on a Monthly Hanoi Motorbike Rental.

Where the Yamaha figures disagree

Yamaha’s news article lists the all-new Janus 125 at 1.88 l/100 km and the earlier Janus at 1.87. The limited-edition product page and a Vietnam Register notice (DNNL/XM/2026/0151, model code JANUS-BJ7R) both list 1.98, and the notice does not name a version. The Register’s February 2020 article lists the standard Janus at 1.87 and the Vision at 1.87, against 1.82 on Honda’s page now. The Yamaha news article and pages carry no publication date in the text read (the Register notice number contains 2026 but no issue date), so it cannot be told which Yamaha figure is newer, and no page explains the gap between 1.88 and 1.98. Declared figures belong to a version and a date, which is why each number here stays with its page.

Engine size and tank

Honda’s page prints 109.5 cm3 and describes the Vision’s eSP engine as 110cc, with a maximum power of 6.59 kW at 7,500 rpm and a 4.8 L tank. Yamaha’s news article gives the Janus a Bluecore engine of 124.9 cm3, air-cooled, and Yamaha’s page gives a 4.2 L tank. On the pages’ own figures the pair is therefore not a like-for-like 125cc comparison. No source prints a distance per tank for either scooter.

Reading the Honda manual’s blocks of figures

The Vision manual text read lists more than one block of figures: a kerb mass of 96 kg with a 4.9 L tank, 97 kg with a 4.8 L tank, and 100 kg, whose tank figure was not in the part read. Only the 97 kg block with 4.8 L matches Honda’s product page, and the type codes beside each block are not explained in the text read. A figure from one block cannot be assumed to fit another. For finding the manual that fits a given scooter, the site has an article titled Find the Exact Manual for Your Rental Scooter: Model Code, Year and Market.

What the pages leave out

None of the seven sources covers renting either scooter: they give no rental terms, deposits or damage rules and nothing on what renting costs. No source prints a litre figure for the Vision’s under-seat box or a load limit for the Janus compartment. No fuel figure comes with a test speed, load or cycle. The Yamaha news article and the product pages are undated in the text read, which leaves the 1.88 against 1.98 gap unresolved. The sources do not say how seat height was measured, which rider heights suit either seat or what the weights include. Only the limited-edition Janus page was read, not the other Janus version pages.
