Ba Dinh Square Area by Motorbike: Check Closures, Dress Expectations and Published Parking Points

About 7 minutes to read

Planning the Ba Dinh Square area by motorbike starts with three checks: whether the Mausoleum is receiving visitors, what dress the national tourism authority expects, and where the city has published places to park. This article reads six pages, the oldest a 2013 hours notice and the newest a 10 August 2026 news report, all opened on 26 October 2026. These details change, so confirm each one with the venue or on its official page before leaving.

Mausoleum closure in 2026: 4 September to 2 November

Tuoi Tre (9 August 2026) reports that the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command plans periodic restoration of the Mausoleum from 4 September to 2 November 2026, with the Mausoleum reopening on 3 November 2026. VietnamPlus (10 August 2026) carries the same dates, attributes them to the Mausoleum Management Board and says reception of domestic and international visitors is suspended in that period. Counting on a calendar, 3 November 2026 is a Tuesday, one of the listed viewing days, and it falls in the cold season, which starts on 1 November.

Viewing days and hours as reported

Tuoi Tre lists viewing on the mornings of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, with none on Monday or Friday. VietnamPlus agrees on the days and says hours begin at 7:30 in the hot season and 8:00 in the cold season. The end times below are Tuoi Tre’s.

SeasonTuesday to ThursdaySaturdaySunday and public holidays
Hot season, 1 April to 31 October7:30 to 10:307:30 to 11:007:30 to 11:00
Cold season, 1 November to 31 March8:00 to 11:008:00 to 11:308:00 to 11:00

Tuoi Tre adds that 19 May, 2 September and the first day of the Lunar New Year (Tet) still have viewing when they land on a Monday or Friday.

Why the closure window needs rechecking each year

VietnamPlus, citing the Management Board, says the restoration is carried out every year and typically lasts about two to three months. Its related-news list includes an item dated 30 July 2025 headed “President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to reopen on August 2”, so, by a simple count of the two dates, the 2025 reopening came about three months earlier in the calendar than the 3 November reopening planned for 2026. None of the pages gives closure dates for 2027, so a later trip needs its own notice.

Presidential Palace relic site: two statements on Friday afternoon

The relic site’s own website (nhasanbacho.vn) carries an hours notice dated 14 August 2013. It gives summer hours (1 April to 31 October) of 7:30 to 11:00 and 13:30 to 16:00, and winter hours (1 November to 31 March) of 8:00 to 11:00 and 13:30 to 16:00, and says the site is open all week except Monday afternoon and Friday afternoon. An hours block in the same page’s footer says every day except Monday afternoon, with the same hours. The two statements differ on Friday afternoon, so ask before planning that slot. The page gives the address as No. 1 Hoàng Hoa Thám (the Red Gate, Cổng Đỏ).

Dress expectations

The official website of the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism answers a dress question in its FAQ: for religious sites, the countryside and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum it says to dress modestly, with shoulders and knees covered. The page carries no date. Its dress answer lists no garments refused at a gate and says nothing about helmets, riding jackets or bags; a separate answer on the same page says to always wear a helmet on roads. General guidance, not from any page: because the visit and the ride share one morning, decide where a helmet and a light cover-up will be kept before you reach the entrance, and ask staff on the day.

Parking positions in the April 2026 holiday notice

An item on the Hanoi city portal (25 April 2026, 14:49) reports a Department of Construction (Sở Xây dựng) notice for the Hung Kings commemoration and the 30 April to 1 May holiday. It says the city arranged eight positions as places to park for people and international visitors going to the Mausoleum and the Ba Dinh historical and cultural complex.

The same item bans coaches of 16 seats or more (buses and armed-forces vehicles excepted) on Hoàng Hoa Thám street, in the direction and section from Mai Xuân Thưởng to Ngọc Hà, and on Ngọc Hà street, in the direction and section from Hoàng Hoa Thám to Lê Hồng Phong. It names no motorbike restriction and does not single out motorbikes for the parking positions. It gives no fees, hours or capacity, and as a holiday notice it does not show that the same eight positions, or the coach ban, apply on an ordinary day. A separate rule: the low-emission zone

The government policy portal Chinhphu.vn (5 July 2026) publishes the Department of Agriculture and Environment’s scheme for a low-emission zone inside Ring Road 1. It names nine wards, Ba Đình among them, and says that from 1 July 2026 Hanoi does not ban all petrol and diesel motorcycles, mopeds and cars across the whole Ring Road 1 area. Phase 1 (1 July to 31 December 2026) covers Zones 1 and 2 of Hoàn Kiếm ward, and in Zone 1 all road vehicles, motorbikes included, are banned from 19:00 to 24:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Phase 2 (1 January to 31 December 2027) extends the scheme to Zones 1, 2 and 3 of the Hoàn Kiếm and Cửa Nam wards. Phase 3 (1 January 2028 to 31 December 2029) covers all of Ring Road 1, and the measures listed include not allowing motorbikes below emission level 3 (QCVN 99:2025/BNNMT). Zone boundaries sit on maps attached to Decision 3273/QĐ-UBND, which the page text does not reproduce. The post Hanoi’s Low-Emission Zone Scheme: Dates, Areas and Rules for Motorbikes treats the scheme on its own.

What the pages leave out

  • Hours, closure days or entry rules for the One Pillar Pagoda, the Ho Chi Minh Museum and Ba Dinh Square itself. VietnamPlus says only that ceremonies and events take place at the square, and that a flag-raising ceremony has been held daily in front of the Mausoleum since 19 May 2001.
  • The last-entry time, queue length, bag or cloakroom rules, any helmet or riding-gear rule for entering the sites (the tourism FAQ’s only helmet line is a general road reminder), and any ticket price.
  • The Mausoleum Command’s own website was not among the pages read; the schedule above reaches this article through news reports that attribute it to the Command (Tuoi Tre) or the Management Board (VietnamPlus).
  • Whether the eight April 2026 parking positions apply on ordinary days, whether they take motorbikes, and what they charge.
  • Which ward holds the Mausoleum or the square: the low-emission page names Ba Đình as one of nine wards and nothing more.
  • Dates for the 2027 closure, and which of the relic site’s two statements on Friday afternoon is current.
