From Noi Bai Airport to a Hanoi Rental Shop: Bus, Taxi and What to Ask About Pickup

About 7 minutes to read

Whatever the rental arrangement, a flight into Noi Bai leaves one practical question: how to get from the terminal to the shop with your bags. This guide covers what the airport operator and the Vietnamese government portal publish about that leg, namely the arrival steps, airport taxis, the buses on the airport’s own list, luggage storage and the road rules that bear on riding off with a suitcase. It does not describe what any rental shop does at pickup. That part is a list of questions to ask before booking.

From the aircraft door to the kerb

The airport’s arrival guide (undated, read on 24 October 2026) gives the order of events. After landing, follow the “Arrivals” signs to the immigration area. Once through immigration, collect bags in the baggage claim area, using the display screen to find the carousel for your flight. The page also says complimentary baggage carts are available near the baggage claim area.

Airport taxis: what the airport publishes

The airport’s transport page says taxi service runs from the first flight to the final flight of the day, including weekends, holidays and Tet. It lists conditions for taxis serving passengers: spacious trunks, plus meters that work, are within their calibration period and have intact seals so that fares are calculated accurately. It also says taxi companies may not hold exclusive rights to carry passengers to the airport, and may not wait in the airport’s car parks and parking areas to pick up returning passengers.

The page gives no taxi price in text. A taxi fare table, said to apply from 1 March 2025, appears only as an image, so this article quotes no fare or per-kilometre rate. Ride-hailing apps, and the cost or distance of the trip into the city, are not covered by the sources reviewed.

Public buses on the airport’s list

The same page lists public bus routes with a fare per trip and first and last departures. The figures below are as listed by the airport when the page was read on 24 October 2026. The page carries no date, so fares and departures may have changed; confirm the fare and the last departure on board.

RouteEnds atFare as listedListed departures
07Cau Giay12,000 VND5h00 to 10h30
90Kim Ma15,000 VND5h00 to 22h30
17Long Bien15,000 VND5h10 to 22h00
109My Dinh12,000 VND5h00 to 22h00
86Ha Noi Railway Station50,000 VND7h00 to 22h15
68Ha Dong55,000 VND7h00 to 22h05
E10Ocean Park20,000 VND06h20 to 22h00

For the seven numbered routes the page gives no stop lists, frequencies, journey times or pick-up points. Route 17 is the only listing that names Long Bien, but the page does not say where in Long Bien it stops, so it cannot show how far a stop is from any particular address. The right route depends on where the shop sits relative to the end points above, so compare the shop’s address with that list before choosing. For Old Quarter stays, the site has a separate article, Motorbike Rental for Hanoi Old Quarter Stays: Pickup and Delivery.

Beyond public buses, the airport lists a mini bus service for all flights, including weekends and holidays, listed at hall A to E on the first floor of Terminal 1 and at the east and west ends of the first floor of Terminal 2. No mini bus fare appears in the page text. A further listing from Hai Van International Transport Joint Venture names two routes, NB01 (Noi Bai Airport – Ring Road 2 – Noi Bai Airport) and NB02 (Noi Bai Airport – Urban Areas – Noi Bai Airport), under a listed ticket price of 90,000 VND for the service, with a frequency of every 45 minutes. The route names alone do not show whether either one serves Long Bien.

Luggage storage at the terminal

The airport’s locker page places luggage storage counters in T2, the international terminal, in the public area on the 2nd floor of the East Wing. It names only that location and gives no opening hours or prices, so confirm both with the airport before planning around it.

Why a scooter is not a simple first leg

Law 36/2024/QH15, Vietnam’s road traffic order and safety law, took effect on 1 January 2025. An explainer on the government’s Chinhphu.vn policy portal (5 January 2025) picks out three points relevant to a traveller with bags:

  • A rider on a two-wheeled motorbike or moped may not carry, shoulder or load bulky objects, and may not load goods past the permitted limits.
  • A passenger on the bike is also barred from carrying or shouldering bulky objects.
  • Under Article 33(1), as the explainer reports it, the rider of a two-wheeled motorbike or moped may carry only one person, except in four listed cases where up to two people may be carried: a sick person on the way to emergency care, a person being escorted for breaking the law, a child under 12, and a frail elderly or disabled person.
  • The consolidated text of the law (55/VBHN-VPQH, 2026) carries the same Article 33(1) wording, and the Ministry of Public Security’s portal reports it too. In the same Article 33, paragraph 3 bars a rider from carrying bulky objects and paragraph 5 sets the loading limits of 0.3 m, 0.5 m and 2 m.

The explainer gives no definition of “bulky”, makes no mention of suitcases and sets no size or weight figure for what counts as bulky, so it cannot settle whether a given bag counts. It does limit loaded goods to 0.3 m beyond the rack width on each side, 0.5 m behind the rack and 2 m above the road. The explainer is a news-portal summary, not the legal text; the consolidated text was checked only for Article 33(1), (3) and (5). Penalty rules were not checked and may have changed since January 2025. Rules change, so check the current wording with the official source before relying on this summary.

Questions to ask the shop before you fly

None of the sources reviewed describes a rental shop’s own airport pickup, delivery or bag-drop handling, so nothing is stated here about what any shop offers. These are the questions worth putting to a shop in writing before booking:

  • Is there any airport pickup, delivery or handover service, and if so where does it happen, at what times and for what charge?
  • If not, where exactly is the bike collected, and what does the shop need to see at collection?
  • What are the shop’s opening hours, and what can be arranged if the flight lands outside them? The airport lists the last departures of several buses between 22h00 and 22h30, so compare the flight’s arrival time with the shop’s hours.
  • Can bags be stored at the shop, and for how long and on what terms?
  • What happens to the booking if the flight is delayed?

The site’s Hanoi Motorbike Rental Delivery & Pickup Guide is the place to read about delivery and pickup before asking those questions, and Hanoi Motorbike Rental for a Late Flight: Plan Pickup and Return covers the timing problem of a late arrival.
